Who we are
Empirical Communication Solutions (ECS) was originally set up by Richard Armstrong, an English – Spanish bilingual practitioner from London, England, with over 20 years language teaching experience.
We currently run our operations from Tbilisi, Georgia (საქართველოს რესპუბლიკა).
The primary ECS activity is providing English as a Second Language (ESL) teaching services to individuals and companies – anywhere within the UTC +1 to UTC + 6 time zones (Greenwich Mean Time).
We also offer Spanish language teaching services.
Translation and proof reading services are available on request.

We all speak another language to native level – so have first-hand experience of the kind of issues second language learners face.
We provide
- integrated language learning solutions in English – and also in Spanish on request
- complete, fully structured courses, training programmes and didactic materials
- integration with licensed online learning apps from providers such as – Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press, Macmillan; Pearson….
- fully digital content — no print, no photocopies, no scans
- AI at the core — used, not abused and viewed as an ally
The core methodology is communicative, focused on
- an interchange involving teacher, learner and the specific environment
- students’ need to express themselves verbally from the very first moment they start to study
- fluency and effective communication skills which grow organically through constant, guided practice.

What we offer
Our integrated English teaching packages include the following
- flexible, accessible virtual classes for learners worldwide
- one-to-one teaching
- small group classes (maximum 6 learners)
- live online tuition via Zoom
- in-person training, where available
- personalised courses adapted to students’ learning needs
All courses run on a fixed weekly schedule and are paid monthly.
Single lessons, pay-per-class options, and occasional conversation sessions are not offered.
Our main focus is English for Grown Ups.

- Pronunciation: native-speaker modelling; teacher, audio, video, interaction
- Fluency: controlled and free practice as an integral part of every lesson
Without a clear framework and shared terms of reference, language cannot function effectively.
What is communicative language teaching?
At ECS, this means integrating the four core language skills into every single class:
- reading
- writing
- listening
- speaking
Classes are constructed around relevant, real-world materials.
Learners are encouraged to supply material related to their own professional or personal lives.
The language learning journey is enhanced by personalisation, with content and structure adapted to specific needs.

We divide each course into six levels, based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
- A1 — Beginner
- A2 — Elementary
- B1 — Lower intermediate
- B2 — Intermediate
- C1 — Upper intermediate
- C2 — Advanced
Before you start studying, to find your current level you can take the Cambridge English Test, on their official webpage,

The test is free, is completed online, and takes between approximately 50 to 90 minutes.
Results are provided immediately, with a CEFR level (A1 to C2)
